Carysfort Northeast Sanctuary Preservation Area is a protected offshore site located near Key Largo, Florida. Set in 15 to 30 feet of clear water, this mooring buoy area falls under SPA (Sanctuary Preservation Area) rules, meaning no fishing, spearfishing, or lobstering is allowed while diving and snorkeling are permitted. Although fishing is restricted while tied to the buoy (XB designation), the surrounding areas offer vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, barracuda, and snapper. It’s an excellent spot for boaters, snorkelers, and divers seeking healthy reef systems and incredible marine life just offshore from the Upper Keys.
