About Find Fishing Spots
Helping anglers discover where to fish, what to catch, and what's happening on the water.
Built From a Real Problem
I'm Matthew Howe, the creator of Find Fishing Spots, and I've been chasing fish since I was a kid.
I grew up in Massachusetts, fishing ponds, rivers, lakes and the coast from Plymouth and Cape Cod Bay up through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
More than 20 years ago I moved to South Florida, and the passion only grew. I started fishing offshore and inshore for tuna, mahi, kingfish, jacks, wahoo, snapper and more.
But learning completely new water kept bringing me back to the same question:
“Where the hell do I go?”

The Miami Humps Story
One day, a buddy and I were offshore looking for the Miami Humps, a legendary fishing zone. We knew roughly where they were. We just didn't have the exact coordinates.
So we did what every angler does. We pulled out our phones, searched Google, scrolled through fishing forums and texted another friend. Then we waited.
No answer. No luck. No spot.
That's when it hit me: fishing information shouldn't be this hard to find. There should be one place where anglers can find real fishing spots, with coordinates and useful details, without piecing it together from search results, forum threads and text messages.
That's why I built Find Fishing Spots.
What Find Fishing Spots Is Today
It started as a way to find fishing spots and their coordinates. It has grown into a place to discover more of what goes into a day on the water.
- Fishing SpotsFind places to fish with coordinates, location information and useful fishing details.
- Fishing TournamentsDiscover tournaments by state and fishing location.
- Fishing ResourcesGuides covering species, bait and rigging, tackle and gear, fishing destinations and techniques.
Species help tie it together. Spots, tournaments and resources are connected by the fish they involve, so a fishing spot can point you to guides and tournaments for the same species, and a guide can point you to spots and tournaments where you'll find them.
Built Around Real Fishing Locations
Find Fishing Spots isn't meant to be another pile of fishing articles. Everything is organized around real places anglers fish: states, towns and the spots themselves.
That way, the information that matters for a place is connected in one place:
- fishing spots
- GPS coordinates
- target species
- tournaments, organized by state and location
- related fishing resources
Our Mission
Map the U.S., one fishing spot at a time.
That was the original mission, and it still is. But it's bigger than spots now. The goal is to make fishing opportunities and useful fishing information easier to discover, without having to piece everything together from scattered websites, forums and word of mouth.
No fluff. No clickbait. Just real places to fish and the information that helps you fish them. We'll keep adding fishing locations, tournaments and resources across the United States.
Built by Anglers, Improved by Anglers
Find Fishing Spots gets better when anglers contribute what they know, from submitting tournaments and sharing local knowledge to sending corrections and ideas. Nobody knows a stretch of water better than the people who fish it.
Because the next time you head out, whether it's 15 miles offshore or a Saturday morning on the pond, you should know exactly where you're going.
