Anclote Key is a boat-access-only barrier island near Tarpon Springs with clean Gulf water, sandbars, and nearby grass flats—great for both inshore and light nearshore fishing. Snook, redfish, trout, pompano, Spanish mackerel, and seasonal cobia cruise the edges depending on conditions. Focus on the points and troughs on moving tide, and watch for bait flipping and birds working. Fish live shrimp or pilchards around structure and deeper edges, or cover water with jigs, spoons, and swimbaits along the beach breaks. Because water clarity can be excellent, lighter leaders and natural presentations help—especially when the sun is high and fish get picky.
