Pass-a-Grille Channel sits at a major Gulf entrance and fishes like a tidal funnel, strong current, deep edges, and constant bait movement. It’s a top spot for snook and tarpon (seasonal), plus Spanish mackerel, jacks, sharks, and snapper along structure and drop-offs. Time the tide: incoming tide brings cleaner Gulf water and feeding activity; outgoing tide concentrates bait and predators along channel edges. Live bait (greenbacks, threadfins, shrimp) is deadly, and heavy jigs can work when fish are holding deep. Because current can be intense, use enough weight to stay in the strike zone and fish the seams—where calm water meets fast flow is often where the bite happens.
