The Rock Pile is an offshore rocky structure south of Point Loma that holds a mix of bottom fish and pelagic species. Rockfish, calico bass, sand bass, and occasional yellowtail are common catches. The structure provides excellent habitat, making it productive for vertical jigging, live bait fishing, and slow trolling. This spot is ideal for smaller offshore trips or combination bottom and surface fishing days. The Rock Pile is best fished with accurate positioning to stay on structure without excessive snags.
