The Apollo Beach warm-water outflow area near the TECO Manatee Viewing Center is a well-known winter-time fishing zone because warmer water attracts bait and keeps fish active. Snook, jack crevalle, mangrove snapper, and occasional tarpon (seasonal) can stage in and around the channel when temperatures drop elsewhere. Current flow, temperature edges, and bait schools are the keys—fish the seams where warmer water mixes with surrounding bay water. Live shrimp and small baitfish presentations are consistent producers, while swimbaits and jigs work well when fish are feeding aggressively. Treat it like a “cold-front plan” spot: when the bay slows down, the warmth here can keep the bite going.
