Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is a Tampa Bay legend and one of the best shore-based saltwater fishing spots in Florida. Built from the old Sunshine Skyway Bridge approach, it gives you deep-water access without a boat, plus tons of structure, lights, and current. Target snook, tarpon, Spanish mackerel, kingfish, cobia, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, grouper (seasonal/area rules), flounder, and sharks depending on time of year. Fish the moving tide around pilings and drop-offs with live shrimp, pinfish/greenbacks, cut bait, or jigs/swimbaits. Night fishing can be especially productive when bait stacks under the lights. Great for beginners and serious anglers alike—bring a net and be ready for strong current and long runs.
