Hugo’s April Fool is a 115-foot steel ship that was intentionally sunk on October 1, 1988, off Miami-Dade County. Sitting in 145 feet of water with about 20 feet of relief, it’s a favorite among technical divers and serious anglers. The deep structure draws larger predators like amberjack, blackfin tuna, and cobia, while the wreck itself is often surrounded by schools of snapper and baitfish. Due to its depth, this spot is best approached with heavy tackle and precision anchoring. It’s a challenging but highly rewarding site for targeting big fish in deeper waters.
